Church Takes ALS Challenge

By now, you've no doubt heard about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that has taken your social media news feed and the world by storm. Some of the pushback ignited by the challenge has been critical, but most has been overwhelmingly positive. Though it's likely is a social fad, almost everyone has now heard about this debilitating disease that affects nearly 30,000 Americans, and that's a good thing. Over $88.5 Million dollars has been raised (as of Aug. 26) to help fund a cure and ALS awareness is through the roof.

At Sycamore View, we have seen the immobilizing effects of ALS on a family near and dear to our hearts—the Wiseman family. This family has been and continues to an inspiration to our community through their courage to wage war against an illness that may not see a cure for Debbie.

Last week, our very own Josh Ross challenged Action News 5's Joe Birch to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Joe graciously accepted and helped to orchestrate the coverage of Debbie's story to educate the Midsouth about this heartbreaking disease. Joe then challenged Sycamore View to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in honor of the Debbie Wiseman family. Check out the videos below to hear their story and how we stepped up to take the plunge in her honor!
