Benefit Battles Sex-Slavery
November 3 was a special time at Sycamore View as the ladies of the congregation came together for a breakfast to raise money for Destiny Rescue. Janice Berryman, a missionary with Destiny Rescue, was our guest speaker. She is the daughter of Jim and Phyllis Berryman, members of this congregation.
Destiny Rescue is a faith based organization that rescues young girls out of sex slavery in third world countries. Destiny Rescue then places them in a safe group home in a Christian atmosphere. Here they learn about God, they are educated, and they learn a trade such as cooking, hair styling, and jewelry making.
Because these girls have learned to make lovely jewelry, a jewelry sale was held in conjunction with the breakfast. Over $5900 was raised for the work at Destiny Rescue. Thanks to all those who helped with the breakfast, bought jewelry, and donated to Destiny Rescue.
