Ministry to Children @ Sycamore View

Our approach to children’s ministry is very holistic, we want the family to be involved. We believe that our children’s ministry is not only responsible for uplifting, encouraging and supporting children as they grow in relationship with God, but we are also responsible for equipping parents and other members of both the biological and church family to do the same. We call the entire church family to be incarnational, living like Jesus, so that our children may really see Jesus and come to know His love. Our children’s ministry seeks to equip and encourage the church family to raise up our children in a relationship with the Father. The Sycamore View Children’s Ministry is committed to leading and equipping the family as we introduce even the youngest to Jesus Christ.

Teach Basic Bible Truths Through  Repetition and Creativity

We divide our children into three basic groups: elementary, preschool, and nursery. Our goal is to involve each group in meaningful, age-appropriate experiences that bring them to understand basic truths. Our desire is that all of our children come to know and understand basic Biblical truths that will lead to transformed lives.

The Essential Elements of Ministry to Children

  • First, parents must be intentionally and intricately involved in their children’s spiritual lives. We believe parents are God’s “children’s ministers”. Parents are ordained by God to pass on faith to the next generation of believers.
  • Second, caring adults from the faith community must invest themselves into the spiritual lives of children. In addition to parents, children need other adults who will serve as teachers, role models, mentors, and examples for them.
  • Third, the story of God and His people must be the centerpiece of children’s worldview. It is essential for the Bible to be taught, cherished, and understood by children at all age levels, and that children understand that they are characters in the unfolding story of God’s love.
  • Fourth, children must become a part of the entire church family to be formed spiritually. Not only should children listen and watch adults in their faith community, but also the children should be seen and heard by the adults. Fully integrated children can transition from childhood into adulthood with their faith intact.

A children’s ministry should intentionally place all four of these elements into the ecology of a children’s ministry, so the children can grow to learn that life itself is about a relationship with their Creator.
