Building Strategic Partnership

A strategic partner describes a working relationship between two organizations as they link arms to provide encouragement, relational power, and resources to function within a set of principles, goals, and vision. For a Christ-centered church, at our core is the good news of Jesus, and how it links us with the greater movement of the Kingdom of God around us.

For us at Sycamore View, a strategic partner is defined not as a ministry that has been born from and within our faith community. We have those ministries. In 2015, we have plans to celebrate, acknowledge, and grow these existing ministries. In fact, one Sunday a month we plan to have a brief time of celebrating specific efforts within our church.

A strategic partner means that a bridge exists to hold us together. As we think about how God has increased our relationships with other Kingdom-Efforts in the 901, we have prayerfully considered how we might increase and grow these relationships. We knew that a strategic partner would have to fit within our vision of restoration, and that they would have to be willing to accept us as a faith-based, Christ-centered community and partner. Our strategic partners have assets that will grow us as a faith community, and we also have assets that will support them as they continue in their efforts.

Our responsibility in these relationships will be to provide:

  1. Encouragement (through prayer, bonding with leaders, and tending to their hearts and mission)

  2. Realistic Volunteer Power (ways we can realistically grow these relationships)

  3. Resources (to increase funding and supplies that will help them function at their highest level)

We have focused on 10 Strategic Partners:

  1. Agape Child & Family Services

  2. HopeWorks

  3. SOMA

  4. Streets Ministries

  5. Kingsbury Middle

  6. Boys & Girls Club

  7. Shelby Oaks Elementary

  8. Kingsbury High School

  9. Harding School of Theology

  10. Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR)

On May 3rd, during our second gathering, we are planning a Celebration Day with all 10 Strategic Partners.
