LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS
God continues to teach us how to love our neighbors. As a church body, we’re trying to be faithful to the call Jesus gave to show his love to those in our community. These local missions include ministries that take place inside our building as well as those in our 38134 area code. Our two primary goals are to increase awareness and provide adequate resources (materials, funding, and volunteers) to each of the following ministries.
HANDPRINTS (Orphan Care)
The purpose of the Handprints ministry is to provide support to our adoptive families, foster families, and WRAP-around families. We want Sycamore View to be a welcoming place for foster and adoptive families to find community and get the resources they need to thrive.
SUNDAY SAMARITANS
The Sunday Samaritans is a group made up of church members who serve the poor in the greater Memphis area through home repair, yard work and other manners of service. Born out of an effort to model the life-changing relief efforts that took place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the founders of this group seek to bring Christ's love to our community. This ministry exists to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are in need.
KDS (Kings, Daughters & Sons home)
Sycamore View has been leading worship services at KDS for more than 50 years. Originally called the Home for Incurables, KDS was founded in 1908 to help those with physical and mental limitations live the fullest life possible. As a body of believers valued by God, we also place a high value on all people, including our extended family at KDS.
SYCAMORE VIEW CHILDREN’S CLOTHING SALE
The Children’s Clothing Sale ministry was started by a group of women who wanted to help other families in our community. Our sales allow families to sell their gently used children’s clothes, shoes, toys, riding toys and equipment. All proceeds are returned to the consignors and we are able to fill a need for those looking to purchase these items at a greatly discounted price. The sales are held twice a year (spring and fall). Visit the Children’s Clothing Sale Website for more information.
CELEBRATE RECOVERY
Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues controlling our lives. This ministry helps those that struggle with emotional baggage, codependency, grief, loss of job, depression, anxiety, anger, eating disorders, pornography, addictions of any kinds, abuse or other hang-ups. The group meets every Tuesday night at 6:30pm and is open to the community.
PRISON MINISTRY
For more than 25 years Sycamore View has been actively involved in reaching out to both men and women in correctional facilities throughout the Memphis Area. We offer communion, Bible studies, correspondence courses and take prayer requests. Our members minister to Christians and non-Christians who are seeking to know God and rebuild the brokenness in their life.
