HOSPITALS:

Catherine Laffoon, Room 3418, friend of Sherri Rogers, suffered a traumatic head injury due to a fall and underwent surgery on Wednesday, August 5th, at Regional One Health in Memphis; was transferred to hospital in Searcy, Arkansas on Tuesday, August 25th; she is now off the ventilator and is continuing to make improvements; requests prayers for comfort physically and emotionally as well as healing and a complete recovery.

CONGRATULATIONS ARE EXTENDED TO:

Stoney and LeAn Ramsey in the birth of their grandson, John Ramsey Allen, on Thursday, September 10th. Ramsey weighed 6.9 lbs. and was 18 1/2 inches long. His proud parents are Jack and Madison Allen.

SYMPATHY IS EXTENDED TO:

Courtney Long and Family, in the death of her grandfather, Marshall Glenn, on Sunday morning, September 13th. The Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, September 26th, at Boulevard Church of Christ, 4439 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38116.

Faustin Henderson and Family, in the death of his stepfather, Bennie Shields, Jr., on Sunday, August 27th, due to cardiac arrest. The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 12th, at R. S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, 3651 Austin Peay Highway, Memphis, TN 38128.

PRAYERS REQUESTED:

Sherry Kendall, neighbor of Doug and Donna Davenport, is scheduled for a follow-up regarding her thyroid surgery on Thursday, September 24th; also scheduled for lab work to make sure her meds are working properly; requests prayers for good results.

Leslie Whiteside, thankful that God has been watching over her all of her life and that she has been able to enjoy good health, happiness, and love from so many sources; requests continued prayers for her son and two friends’ sons to repent and return to God soon; that she will soon be able to walk unassisted with confidence, courage, determination, balance, strength, and stamina and to remind herself to exercise regularly both at home and a gym; and for our city, nation, and the world to return to normalcy as it was when she was a child and neighbors were honest, hard working people who helped each other in their work and talked to each other with kindness, respect, and love.

Jack Johnson, father of Carissa Burdette, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer and has been doing well as he continues to receive radiation treatments which will continue daily for nine weeks; treatments are scheduled for around mid-day, so he can work in the mornings and recover in the afternoons; if everything goes according to plan, the last treatment will be on November 11th; requests prayers for strength and comfort during weeks of treatments and complete healing.

Lisa Hinton, aunt of Carissa Burdette, continuing to recover from a 9-hour surgery on September 10th after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer of the duodenum where all of the cancerous masses were removed and the organs repaired as best they could be; because she was so malnourished from the cancerous stomach obstruction, she will be remaining on IV nourishment for a few weeks and her drainage tubes from the surgery will also have to stay in for a while which will restrict her from activity for the next 4-6 weeks; still waiting on the pathology report and next steps to be determined; requests continued prayers for a complete recovery.

Randy Fowler, now at home continuing to recover from gall bladder surgery on Tuesday, September 15th; surgery went well; requests continued prayers for minimal pain and complete healing.

Mary Beth Jones, doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, September 15th, revealed that her eye continues to heal although she still does not have correct vision in that eye and her perception is still making her feel off balance at times; requests prayers for continued and complete recovery so that she will be able to see clearly soon.

Shirley Forrester, visitor to Sycamore View, requests prayers for healing from cancer.

Carolee Hamilton, mother of Donna Davenport, condition continues to improve; her neck fracture has healed to the point that she now no longer needs to wear a neck brace; is able to move around her house with her walker and has also used it to walk a little outside; is thankful for all the prayers that have been lifted up on her behalf.

Martha Benafield, aunt of Veronica Veltman, experiencing stiffness, soreness, and lack of steadiness after slipping off of her bed several weeks ago; also experiencing some confusion which may be due to her dementia being slightly worse; Veronica will be staying with her full time for now and Martha’s son, Dale, will be with her at times when Veronica has errands to run; requests prayers that once her soreness has subsided, that she will feel much better.

Joy Morton, mother of Elaine Morton, has returned home from the hospital, but has now been diagnosed with multiple myeloma as she continues to recover from sepsis; will be meeting with a medical team to determine treatment; requests prayers for complete healing.

Van Jones, father of Jamie Sowell, now at home and continuing to recover following hospital stay for pneumonia; requests prayers for a complete recovery.
