OUR STRATEGIC PARTNERS IN MEMPHIS
Memphis. The birthplace of Blues and Rock & Roll, pulled pork BBQ, grit and grind basketball, life-saving hospitals, and the legacy of Kings. As a city, we’ve faced many ups and downs over the last 200 years. But, with every challenge comes new opportunities for growth as we do life together. We’re proud to be a part of a rich history that’s giving back to Memphis. With God’s help, we hope to make the next 100 years something worth celebrating.
At Sycamore View, we have Strategic Partners that we serve alongside throughout the city of Memphis to accomplish God’s work. These partners are involved in Kingdom-oriented ministries that our church family couldn’t do on our own due to the lack of resources, expertise, or personnel. By partnering with these organizations through prayer, financial, volunteers, and material resources, we help to extend the Kingdom of God throughout our city. Here is a list of our Strategic Partners:
AGAPE CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES
Agape means Love. Love for children, for families, and for Christ. Agape's mission is to be a Christ-centered ministry that provides children and families with healthy homes. The organization engages in this pursuit through a variety of programs and services and are dedicated to the premise that every child deserves a stable, loving, and permanent family. Agape also resolves to secure family life for children through a comprehensive program of Christian services. Sycamore View provides financial resources, aids in adoption and foster care events, and helps to provide volunteer resources to Agape.
HARDING SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY
Harding School of Theology challenges Christian leaders to deeper faith in God and higher standards of ministry and scholarship. Combining academic rigor and interpersonal connections, HST operates in an urban context and online, allowing students to engage in ministry as they study. Sycamore View provides financial resources and resources to HST students in the Memphis area.
HOPEWORKS
HopeWorks, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that seeks to serve the poor through outreach programs that develop individual worth, encourage personal responsibility and promote the honor and value of work. By implementing a holistic approach through daily classes and meals, educational training and spiritual counseling, HopeWorks strives to break the cycle of poverty, addiction and chronic unemployment in the city of Memphis. Our church helps this incredible ministry by providing financial resources, food, and volunteering.
SOMA
Soma is a college ministry in Memphis located near the University of Memphis campus. This ministry exists to seek, spread, and share the life of Jesus with other students. Throughout the week, they share meals together, engage in Bible studies, worship, and hang out as a diverse group of brothers and sisters in Christ. We partner with Soma to provide food, financial resources, and volunteer efforts that help bless college-age young adults in our city.
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis was founded in April of 1962 and has served the community for more than 57 years. Sycamore View hosts the largest Boys & Girls Club in the city at our building each school day with an average of 120 students. Not only do we provide a space for club to operate, but we also give volunteer support to ensure each child’s success.
SHELBY OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
We have been involved with helping Shelby Oaks for well over a decade. In many ways, it was our partnership with them that gave us the desire to pursue helping other schools in our community. Each school year we provide free school supplies to families in need. We also work with the school to provide support for teachers as well as volunteer support for our Arise 2 Read program that helps students learn to read and improve their reading skills.
KINGSBURY MIDDLE SCHOOL
We love our Memphis schools. The Kingsbury Middle School is doing a great job educating the next generation. Our volunteers are honored to help provide support for teachers and students throughout the school year.
KINGSBURY HIGH SCHOOL
We are excited to partner with Kingsbury High School to provide students with an excellent education. Sycamore View provides support to staff and faculty throughout the year, prays over prayer requests, and offers our building as a space for continuing education and employee training.
JOIN THE URBAN MISSIONS TEAM
Our Urban Missions (901) Ministry Team exists to support Sycamore View’s Strategic Partners and the needs they have by seeking active participation from our church family. If you would like to help with any of the ministries above or serve on this team, please contact Jim Hinkle.
