HOSPITALS:
ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Lane Benafield, grandson of Veronica Veltman’s aunt, finished some of his radiation treatments last week and got to ring the bell, however has been readmitted to St. Jude as of yesterday and has started on two different antibiotics as he is having some of the same issues he experienced with the last virus although this time with less nausea, but more bleeding; requests prayers that this passes quickly, that his body responds to treatment, and that he can be home again soon.
PRAISE THE LORD:
Maria Rodriguez was baptized into Christ on Friday, December 12th. We rejoice to have Maria as our new sister in Christ.
CONGRATULATIONS ARE EXTENDED TO:
Morgan and Charli Gonder as they welcome baby girl, Murphy Nicole Gonder, to their family following her adoption being finalized on Tuesday, December 9th. Maggie, Watson, and Linden Gonder all welcome their new sister.
Jackson and Brooke Ward in the birth of their baby girl, Hollis Elizabeth Ward, on Friday, December 5th. Hollis weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Jackson is the son of Joe and Carla Ward.
SYMPATHY IS EXTENDED TO:
Karen and Russel Wilkinson and Family in the death of Karen’s mother, Fonda Ann Holst, on Monday, November 24th, in Dresden, TN. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, December 2nd, at Martin Church of Christ in Martin, TN.
Marilyn and Tony Crawford in the death of Marilyn’s brother, Don Medley, on Monday, December 1st. Prayers also for Don’s wife, Vicki Medley, and their children. Funeral services were Saturday, December 6th, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.

Marsha Spears, sister of Dennis Spears, was recently in hospital for a blood clot in her leg and is now in rehab; her kidney function has stabilized and improved some and she will begin immunosuppression treatments again in January; requests continued prayers for peace, dignity, and comfort.
Jan Eddings, attendee of SV Ladies Class, now at home following a hospital stay of several days for pneumonia and dehydration; requests prayers for comfort and complete healing.
Miyah Clark, daughter of Denita Deaton, court date is scheduled for Monday, January 12th, where a plea will be entered; requests prayers for guidance, patience, and peace for both Miyah and Denita.
Darrell Montgomery, now at home after visit to ER on Sunday, December 14th, due to pains in his chest and right leg; determined that he has two broken ribs (apparently from a previous fall) and blood clots in his right leg; is now feeling better and able to get around some, but still having a degree of pain; currently taking medicine for the clots and will see his primary care doctor next week.
Adam Irwin, has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver and also has some spots on his lungs; had an appointment recently for a PET scan since the previous biopsy did not show cancer cells, but there are other tests that indicate there is cancer somewhere; based on the results of the scan, another biopsy will be done to determine treatment plan and will meet with doctor on December 29th for results; the family requests continued prayers for patience as they wait for further testing and for good test results later this month.
Tekia Lillard, daughter of Randy Lillard, had an MRI regarding her congenital heart defect; currently waiting for results.
Leslie Whiteside, thankful for the Lord’s help and for answered prayers; requests continued encouragement for her son and two friends’ sons to repent and return to God; also requests prayers that the pain in her knee be removed and for comfort and peace to help her walk unassisted.
Liana Nixon, now at home and doing okay, although sore, following an exploratory procedure on Wednesday, December 10th, due to abnormal results from a previous medical test; will receive reports in about 7-10 days on a couple of biopsies; requests prayers for continued healing, peace of mind, and a good outcome.
Jo Whitten, mother of Liana Nixon, now at home and doing well following surgery on Wednesday, December 10th, at Huntsville Hospital in Alabama for ICD (pacemaker and defibrillator) implant; prayers of thanksgiving for a successful surgery and requests prayers for continued healing, peace of mind, and a good outcome; her address is 4302 Richardson Dr., Huntsville, AL 35816, if anyone would like to send her a card.
Veronica Veltman, visit with orthopedic doctor on Wednesday, December 10th, let her know her fracture is healing nicely, but cannot drive for another week; will also need to wear the boot when she goes out places, but at home can try wearing shoes; X-ray on her knee looks okay, but may have pulled her MSL, so will be in a knee brace for the next 4 weeks; requests continued prayers for complete healing and that she will be able to start driving again soon.
Martha Benafield, aunt of Veronica Veltman, currently not doing well; her dementia seems to be getting slightly worse and she is still losing weight; her blood disease treatments at West Clinic have her extremely tired all of the time with little to no energy causing her to take more naps and not eating enough; requests prayers for her and her family as they are all deeply concerned about her current condition.
Debbie Mitchell, now at home recovering from surgery for aortic heart valve replacement on Tuesday, December 2nd; surgery went well; most likely will need to have a pacemaker within the next two weeks; requests prayers for minimal pain and complete healing.
