HOSPITALS:  

METHODIST HOSPICE CENTER, 6416 Quince Road, Memphis, TN 38119 - 901-818-2100
Mark Hicks, brother-in-law of Kevin South, Room 11, diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which has metastasized to his liver and bones; currently have stopped all treatment; his son that was previously deployed is now home for 30 days; requests prayers for peace and strength for him and his wife, Kristi, during this time.

PRAISE THE LORD:  

CONGRATULATIONS ARE EXTENDED TO:  

Caleb and Hayley Wood in the birth of their daughter, Alison Elizabeth Wood, on Friday, August 22nd.  

SYMPATHY IS EXTENDED TO:  

Dan and Carissa Burdette and Family in the death of Dan’s mother, Sue Burdette, on Thursday, July 24th. The memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, August 30th, at Sycamore View Church, 1910 Sycamore View, Memphis, TN 38134.

Russ Nixon and Family in the death of his older half brother, Michael Paul Nixon, last night, August 27th, after being in hospice care in Houston, TX; prayers are requested for strength and comfort for his wife, Cheryl, and their daughters, Ryann and Chayne, and also prayers for the grandkids and for his other brothers, Mark, Tim, and Glenn; funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 5th, in the Houston, TX area.

SHOWER SCHEDULED FOR:  

Wedding Shower honoring Anna Moser and Seth Likens is scheduled for Sunday, September 7th, from 2:00 - 3:30 pm in the Front Lobby at Sycamore View Church. They are registered at The Knot, Amazon, Target, and Crate & Barrel.  

Wedding Shower honoring Anna Grace Hinkle and Tyler Milligan is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th, from 2:00 - 3:30 pm in the Front Lobby at Sycamore View Church. They are registered at Amazon, Target, and Anthropologie.  

PRAYERS REQUESTED:  

Gerald Johnson, scheduled for a procedure to have a shunt put in his brain this afternoon, August 28th, at Baptist East; requests prayers for a successful surgery with minimal pain and quick recovery.

Debi Rauchle, has been released from a hospital in Bradenton, Florida, where she was admitted to check on her hip after a fall; her hip is fine, but blood clots were discovered in her right lung from X-rays; currently on blood thinners and will be flying home today, August 28th; prayers for safe travel home and for strength and complete healing.  

Reid Walker, 18-month-old son of Phillip Walker Jr. and the grandson of Phillip and Vicki Walker, all former members of SV; was able to go home last week as he continues to recover from a bone marrow transplant on July 23rd due to a rare immune deficiency called Chronic Granulomatous disease; the cells are grafting however, he still has to isolate since he has no immunity; he will still be going to St. Jude every week but this time next year he should be able to do all the things he has not been able to do; requests continued prayers for strength, patience, and comfort for Reid and his family, and a complete healing for Reid.

Paul Foree, has been discharged from St. Francis Hospital and moved to The Village in Germantown; continues to deal with some swelling issues that are affecting his breathing; requests prayers for strength, comfort, and healing for Paul and also prayers for his wife, Doris.

Carol Weiner, began wearing a heart monitor on Tuesday, August 26th, for three weeks; also scheduled for a nuclear heart test; requests prayers for peace and good test results.

Sharon Fieldor, former member of Sycamore View, fell recently and broke her shoulder and hip; is a current resident of Kirby Pines and is now on hospice care in the nursing home part of Kirby Pines.

Leslie Whiteside, requests prayers for her son and his combined family to return to their Father and Jesus and to worship on Sundays as well as serve both during the week; also prayers for complete healing for her friend, Barbara.

Jessica Laitinen, her spinal injection last week went well regarding her Lumbar Nerve Root Disorder and had a follow up appointment yesterday, August 27th, with her pain management doctor; also received a letter letting her know that she has a scheduled appointment with a spinal neurosurgeon on October 6th; requests continued prayers for pain management, for her mental health, and for a clear care plan that can actually resolve the issue and enable her pain to be resolved which has affected both her personal and work life.

Miyah Clark, daughter of Denita Deaton, court date has been postponed until October 27th as they are still waiting to hear back from the Supreme Court in Nashville; praying that this wait will be in Miyah’s favor; requests continued prayers for patience, guidance, and peace for both Miyah and Denita.

Lane Benafield, 16-year-old grandson of Veronica Veltman’s aunt, is now allowed to come home on the weekends and then return to St. Jude during the week as he receives a mix of radiation with chemo treatments for stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma; treatments will continue once a week for over a year; at some point may need to have surgery; requests continued prayers for Lane for strength, comfort, patience, and a complete healing; prayers are also requested for his parents, Stephen and Fallon, and the entire family.

Kelly Alberson, friend of Ursula Pruitt, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer; was scheduled to see an oncologist last week.

Dan and Carissa Burdette and Family in the unexpected death of Dan’s aunt, Ann Clarke, on Friday, August 15th, after a major stroke and just three weeks after the death of Dan’s mother and Ann’s sister, Sue Burdette; prayers requested for the family, including Ann’s husband, Decker, who lives in Leominster, MA, as this series of losses has been difficult for the family to process given their sudden nature.

Steve Harris, former member of SV, began a combination treatment on August 19th for one day a week for three hours per treatment for throat cancer; the combined treatments of chemotherapy and immunosuppressant therapy will last for twelve months; Steve remains in high spirits but is having chronic, radiating throat, neck, head, and ear pain and is very sensitive to sound; requests continued prayers for strength and peace for Steve and his wife, Rhonda, and complete healing for Steve.

Bobby Bluford, has been discharged from Encompass Health Rehab and is now at home continuing to recover from hip replacement surgery on July 28th for a fractured femur as a result of a fall while in Panama; requests prayers for strength and a complete recovery.

Jamie Sowell, radiation treatment began on last week; requests prayers for herself and her family as they undergo this stage of her health care as a family.

Thomas Palmer requests prayers for himself and his family.

John Johnson, brother of Kim Chapman, is now at home following a diagnosis of kidney issues at the VA Hospital; is scheduled to return to hospital on September 15th to prepare for dialysis; requests continued prayers for peace, strength, comfort, and complete healing.
